Founder & CEO
Dr. Hwang, Kee Yeon is currently an Invited Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at KAIST and the founder of the HKY Mobility Partners. Previously, he was a Professor of Urban Engineering at Hongik University, where he also held leadership roles, including Vice President and Dean of the College of Engineering.
From 2008 to 2011, Dr. Hwang served as the President of the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI), a central government research institution focused on land transport, aviation, and logistics. Under his leadership, KOTI was awarded the Best Research Institute title for three consecutive years by the National Association of Economic, Literary, and Social Sciences, overseen by the Prime Minister's Office.
Prior to his tenure at Hongik University, Dr. Hwang was a Senior Research Fellow and Director of the Research Center for Cheonggyecheon Stream Restoration at the Seoul Institute, a think tank for the Seoul Metropolitan Government. His notable contributions earned him the Order of National Merit from the South Korean government for his pivotal role in the Cheonggyecheon restoration project.
Currently, Dr. Hwang is an active member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and serves as the Chairperson of the Future Land Forum and Vice-Chair of the Automated Vehicle Committee. He is deeply involved in various professional committees focused on the research and development of autonomous vehicles, both as a chair and a committee member.
Dr. Hwang received his Ph.D. in Urban and Transportation Planning from the University of Southern California. A prolific scholar, he has authored over 150 professional journal articles and 10 books on transportation and urban planning.
